Social media in China and in the US

As a follow up to our introduction to Chinese social media sites, this week’s article is an infographic which highlights the intricate relationship American and Chinese social media sites share. We know China’s Renren was very much fashioned after Facebook, but did it work the other way around for Pinterest? Did they borrow the concept from Meilishuo, which is often called China’s Pinterest clone? Truth is, it doesn’t really matter who came first. What matters is that Meilishuo, along with several other Chinese Pinterest-clones apparently figured out how to bring in revenue in addition to attracting users… Unlike Pinterest so far.
